THIS IS KCRA 3 NEWS AT 4:00. BRANDI: GOOD MORNING. THIS IS TUESDAY, DECEMBER 6. I’M BRANDI CUMMINGS. HERE’S A LOOK AT THE TOP STORIES WE’RE FOLLOWING TODAY. LAWMAKERS AT THE STATE CAPITOL ARE FOCUSED ON A NEW SPECIAL SESSION REGARDING GAS PRICES. GOVERNOR NEWSOM WANTS THEM TO CONSIDER A PRICE GOUGING PENALTY FOR OIL COMPANIES. IN OCTOBER, GAS PRICES REACHED NEAR RECORD HIGHS, BUT THE ACTUAL RECORDS WERE SET IN JUNE. THE GOVERNOR CALLED THE SESSION BECAUSE PRICES IN THE STATE WERE MUCH HIGHER THAN THE NATIONAL AVERAGE IN OCTOBER, AND HE SAYS THAT RESULTED IN BIGGER PROFITS FOR THE OIL COMPANIES. BUT THIS MORNING IT’S STILL UNCLEAR WHEN ANY ACTION WILL BE TAKEN ON THAT PROPOSAL. MORE DEBIT CARDS HIT THE MAIL THIS WEEK AS PART OF CALIFORNIA’S INFLATION RELIEF PROGRAM. AND THESE ARE GOING TO A LARGE GROUP OF PEOPLE. THEY’RE FOR THOSE WHO DID NOT GET THE GOLDEN STATE STIMULUS AND DID NOT RECEIVE THE REFUND BY DIRECT DEPOSIT. ALSO THIS WEEK, THE FINAL ROUND OF DEBIT CARDS WILL GO OUT FOR GOLDEN STATE STIMULUS CHECK RECIPIENTS WITH LAST NAMES BEGINNING WITH W THROUGH Z. BECAUSE OF THE COLDER AND RECENT WET WEATHER, HOURS FOR THE WARMING CENTERS IN SACRAMENTO HAVE BEEN EXTENDED. YOU CAN GET SOME RELIEF FROM THE COLD AND RAIN AT THE OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT CENTER ON AUBURN BOULEVARD. THE NORTH FIFTH STREET SHELTER WILL ALSO BE OPEN UNTIL THURSDAY. BOTH WILL BE OPEN FROM 8:00 P.M. TO 8:00 A.M. FOR THE COUNTY, THE DHA ANNEX ON 28TH STREET HAS BEEN ACTIVATED. THAT IS OPEN FROM 7:00 P.M. TO 7:00 A.M. FOR A CHECK FORECAST, LET’S IT OVER TO METEOROLOGIST TAMARA BERG. TAMARA: STILL TRACKING SOME SHOWERS, ESPECIALLY ON THE COAST OF CALIFORNIA. WESTERN SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY IN THE PRIME SPOT FOR SEEING A MORNING SHOWER. I EXPECT WE WILL SEE CLOUDS ON THE DECREASE. BY LUNCHTIME WE SHOULD SEE BRIGHTER CONDITIONS. LOOKING AT TEMPERATURES IN THE LOW TO MID 50’S WITH HIGHS IN THE UPPER 50’S AND BRIGHTER SKIES LATER TODAY. BACK TO YOU
