ShareShareShareShare

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.

Arrests

Nov. 22, 2:53 p.m.: A man was stopped at Target after the store got multiple reports from four people out of the area who said someone was using their credit card at the Watertown store. Police were in the store on another matter and security informed them about the man who had been seen on video at the self checkout for more than 35 minutes. Security found that he fraudulently used several credit card numbers which he had loaded onto his Samsung Pay cellphone app. He purchased 15 gift cards for a total of $2,900. The man was seen leaving the store and getting into a vehicle. Police located him in the vehicle. The man admitted to using several stolen credit card numbers which he had purchased from an unknown person. Police seized the man’s phone and the gift cards. Alanado Jermain, 28, of Woodmere, New York, was arrested on a charge of larceny over $1,200.

Nov. 24, 3:47 a.m.: Police received a report of a driver asleep or passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in Watertown Square. Officers located a vehicle in a lane of traffic on Galen Street at Main Street. A man was slumped forward at the wheel with the vehicle running and his foot on the brake. Police had difficulty waking the man. The Fire Department was called to gain access to the vehicle, but the man awoke before they arrived. An officer reached into the passenger side to put the vehicle in park and turn off the engine. The man showed signs of impairment including a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, and his speech was slurred. A bottle of Corona beer that was about a quarter full was found in the front console. Three more full bottles of beer were found in a cooler behind the driver’s seat. Based on the circumstances Dinicius Silva, 26, of Marlborough, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Incidents

Nov. 21, 9 a.m.: A Mt. Auburn Street resident reported that two tires had been flattened, and the person suspected they had been punctured. An officer inspected the tires and found cuts about an inch long in each of the passenger side tires. The resident referenced some problems with neighbors, but there is no indication that that was what had happened. The total repair cost is about $500.

Nov. 21, 10:45 a.m.: A man was spotted in Ulta Beauty browsing the fragrances. Employees heard something being unwrapped in the area in which he was standing, and then the man abruptly left the store with three items before paying. He took three 3 oz. bottles of fragrance, one valued at $148 and two valued at $139. The suspect was described as a tall Black man with a beard, wearing a black jacket, and a black baseball hat.

Nov. 21, 1 p.m.: A resident had cancelled their license plates with the RMV in December 2020. The plates were folded in half and thrown away. Recently, the resident began getting notices from EZ Pass for money owed for tolls using the plate.

Nov. 23, 3:30 p.m.: A brush fire started at Greenough Boulevard at North Beacon Street. A landscaping crew was in the area and parked a riding mower to go do other work. The workers noticed a fire under the mower. They moved the mower and tried to put out the flames using a leaf blower, but were unsuccessful. The fire was about 25 yards by 25 yards. The Fire Department arrived and extinguished the flames.

Nov. 26, 12:50 p.m.: An electric scooter was parked outside the Dunkin’ Donuts in Coolidge Square at about 12:35 p.m. The owner went inside and a few minutes later the scooter was gone. It had not been locked. Police checked the area for witnesses but could not locate any. The scooter is valued at $1,500.

Nov. 26, 3:11 p.m.: A suspicious man was seen in the backyard of a home on Stuart Street. Officers located the man, who they determined was hanging around the yard, and did not live there. The man said he was an electrician and was looking for work. He thought the home was under construction. Police identified the man and told him that he could not be in the yard.

Nov. 26, 6:31 p.m.: Two packages were taken from the front porch of a home. The resident was not home, but got an alert on his Ring doorbell that someone was on his front porch. He saw a person that appeared to be dressed in an Amazon uniform moving the packages. One contained a Samsung sound bar valued at $180, and the other had a light fixture worth $196. Police are attempting to identify the person.

Nov. 27, 7:28 p.m.: Target security reported a man walk through the pharmacy section of the store and take two bottles of cough medicine, one valued at $17, and the other at $28. He also took a Lego set worth $20. Police were called, but the man left before they arrived. The suspect is described as a white male, wearing a black hat, a green jacket, black pants, grey and white sneakers and a red backpack.
